Patent-troll sues entire security industry over behavior-based tech
A small Texan firm has taken on the mightiest corporations from across the security and anti-malware industry, launching a patent infringement suit against most of the major players in the field. The company, Information Protection and Authentication of Texas LLC (IPAT), holds a pair of US patents dating from the mid-1990s which it alleges are being infringed by Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft, Sophos, AVG, Trend Micro, ESET, Norman, Check Point, CA, Kaspersky, Sunbelt, Iolo, PC Tools, Webroot and Novell, among others.

InterDigital Signs iWOW to Worldwide 2G and 3G Patent License Agreement
Interdigital signs a patent licensing agreement with Singapore-based iWOW Connections. The agreement covers the sale of wireless terminal units and infrastructure, including wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) devices, built to cellular Second Generation (2G and 2.5G) standards and Third Generation (3G) standards and to non-cellular wireless IEEE 802-based standards, through 2015.

Intel, Microsoft, HP Sued for Alleged Patent Infringement
Xpoint, a data recovery firm has sued IT giants including Intel, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft for infringing on patents to quickly restore data. The company owns two patents related to the data recovery: 7,024,581, which was issued in April 2006 and 7,430,686, which was issued in September 2008 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patents describe creating a backup copy of a PC's primary storage in a separate storage area that also holds a secondary OS used for quicker recovery if the primary storage is corrupted.
